Radboud University Nijmegen is one of the leading academic institutions in the Netherlands. The university was established in 1923 and is situated in the oldest city of The Netherlands. It is a place where a personal style of teaching is very normal which leads to an opportunity for students to work closely with instructors and fellow students in small seminars. An important aspect of education and the whole institution is research. The research carried out at the Radboud University is focused on different aspects (from biology and chemistry to informatics and anthropology) and contributes to expanding knowledge in the interests of society as a whole. Level of Education

Radboud University is a research university and fosters therefore strong links between research and education. Students are educated to become independent thinkers and contribute to the world. According to its website many schools at the university employ student activating education, meaning the education is “characterised by instruction in study groups, the organization of existing courses as a series of study tasks, and creating room for individual responsibility and independence”. The Radboud University tries to achieve a combination of scientific, academic training and a broad social, ethical and cultural education. Student work closely with other students and lecturers, which makes the education more personal and therefore attractive for students. The university offers several types of programmes: bachelor degrees, master degrees, PhD degrees and an honours programme.

International student programmes

In Nijmegen, several programmes are in place to make sure international students feel at home in their new city. First of all, the International Student Network Nijmegen organises an introduction week at the beginning of your stay where you get the opportunity to meet new people, get to know the city and find your way around campus. Furthermore, this network organises parties, excursions and other activities throughout the year, making sure you will have the best time of your life. Next to this network, Nijmegen has another organisation for international students called Aegee. This organisation organises parties and get-togethers as well.
