The Amsterdam Business School was established in 2001 as part of the University of Amsterdam. The education focuses on academic and practical knowledge of business. The mission of the school is producing, advancing and disseminating knowledge at the highest international academic levels that meets the needs of the business community, students and society at the same time. Furthermore, the school’s mission is “to be recognized internationally as one of the leading Business Schools in Continental Europe by 2015".
Level of Education
The Amsterdam Business School is part of the University of Amsterdam, which is a research university. Research universities are often focussed on academic careers, but the Business School is an exception. With education about practical business cases the university prepares students for a career in the business world. In short, the school is focussed on both practice and theory and is both research and competence based.

International student programmes
Students of the Amsterdam Business School can join the student network in Amsterdam: ESN- Amsterdam. This is an organisation entirely run by students studying at the universities. The aim of the network is to help international students with finding their way in Amsterdam and making friends. The network tries to achieve this by organising several events such as introduction days, weekend trips, excursions and parties. If you would like to know more about this organisation, or sign up for their activities, visit the ESN Amsterdam website.
