Study at the International Business School in Groningen (scholarships, grants and fellowships)

The International Business School in Groningen is the oldest International Business & Management Studies programme of the Netherlands, which is fully taught in English. The school has more than 50 partner universities abroad and is very internationally orientated. According to annual student satisfaction surveys students are very satisfied with the education and culture of the International Business School. Furthermore, during an accreditation evaluation in 2008, IBS came out as the best IBMS programme in the country.

Level of Education

The International Business School in Groningen is a part of the Hanze University (university of applied sciences), meaning the education focuses on preparing its students for specific professions. When you have finished a programme taught at the IBS Groningen you will receive a Bachelor’s degree, but it is also possible to do a masters at the university of applied sciences when you have finished your Bachelor’s programme. Work experience at two different companies is part of the programme to put your knowledge into practice during your studies. In short, the education is competence based and focussed on practical knowledge and will be awarded with a bachelor of business administration degree.

Scholarships

The IBS offers several scholarships for international students. The scholarships described at the website are meant for both for students from the EU/ EEA and students from around the world. All non-EU/EEA student scan receive a scholarship of € 3,500 or more when following a Bachelor Degree Programme. Fee-paying EU/EEA students can apply for a tuition fees credit, which is an interest-bearing loan from the Dutch government to cover the costs of the tuition fee. The IBS has an international student team, which consists of students from all over the world who will help you with finding the necessary information you need to study, find your way around campus and the student life in Groningen. International Students

Approximately 60% of the students at the International Business School are from outside the Netherlands. These international students are from different origins: more than 50 nationalities are represented at the IBS Groningen. The IBS staff is also from various international backgrounds. Some examples of the nationalities represented at IBS are: the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Canada, the USA, Belgium and the Netherlands and these are only the background of the teachers. Students come from around the world.

Courses and Departments

The International Business School (IBS awards graduates with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. You can choose which specialization you would like to choose. The following majors can be chosen from:

  • International Marketing (English Language)
  • International Management (English Language)
  • International Finance and Accounting (English Language)
  • Internationale Betriebswirtschaft (German language)

When finished your bachelor’s programme you can decide to study on and follow a master’s programme. The following master’s programmes are available at the International Business School Groningen:

  • Master of Business Administration in International Business and Management (MBA in IB&M)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA full-time and MBA part-time)
  • Master in EurAsian Business & Management
