Eligible candidates: Dutch students planning to study in the United States and American students planning to study in the Netherlands.
Value and purpose of loan: A limited number of study loans up to $20,000 will be made annually. The Maarten van Hengel Study Loan Program creates the opportunity for a borrower to make significant progress in his/her education, without accruing interest on loan monies or making payments of interest or principal for three years.
Loan award period: One academic year
Closing dates: March 1, May 1, September 1, and December 1.

Application procedure: Prospective borrowers must submit a completed application form, curriculum vitae, references, proof of acceptance at an institution of higher learning and co-signers for the loan (one co-signer for loan amounts up to $10,000 or two co-signers for loan amounts greater than $10,000). Loans will be payable in full upon maturity.
