The University of Groningen is a 395-year-old university, which has an international reputation as a leading research university. It is internationally oriented, works actively with businesses, the government and respects differences in ambition and talent. According to its website “The University continues to strive to strengthen its international position, always with an eye to national and global developments and a clear awareness of its strengths and weaknesses."

Level of Education

The University of Groningen is a research university, meaning that its education focuses on academic training. The education prepares students to make independent scientific work in an academic or professional setting. The education and research at the University of Groningen has a wide range; the university focuses on behaviour and society, law, medicine, health sciences, natural sciences, language and culture, economics, agriculture and engineering. The programmes are offered at several levels: Bachelor, Master and PhD.
Within the education independent, individual and teamwork are valued as very important. Students are expected to contribute actively and work independently. A special Honours college has been set up at the University to give talented students a change to be fully challenged. It will teach the student to develop a wide view and think outside the boundaries of their own discipline and to make a contribution to society.

Scholarships

The University of Groningen does not offer a scholarship specifically aimed at international students. Nevertheless, the website of the university provides a grant finder to assure you will find a scholarship for your study. If you’d like to know more, visit this website.

International student programmes

Groningen has a student network for all its international students: ESN Groningen. Its main function is to support international students during their stay by finding a Dutch mentor. This mentor will help you with practical matters and getting to know other foreign students and the city of Groningen. Furthermore, the network organises activities such as introduction weeks, parties and excursions.

Why is that the institution focus most on masters degree scholarships than the undergraduates and bachelors scholarships?
But is mostly the undergraduates that can not afford the fees so the need the scholarship .

    Dear Colleague,

I would be grateful if you could re direct this email to someone who will be able to deal with this enquiry.

As you know Bangladesh is on the throes of becoming a developed nation. Many students apply abroad for their education as the local system is currently unavailable to cope with the demand. Parents consider education as a mandatory investment for their children. In this case, as part of business development, I am interested to apply for our organization Oversea Study Counseling Ltd. To become a representative of your university. We have been in existence for over 15 years and have placed many students at UK, USA, Canada, German and Malaysian institutions.

In fact I and another colleague joined from the British Council after 16 years of service there. So if you could redirect me to the correct person, I can then proceed to send in a business proposal. Thank you very much,

    Hello,

My name is Arielle Zouela. I have recently finished my masters degree in genetics at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel. I have recently completed a master thesis on the autosomal recessive disorder Heterotaxy using DNA obtained from patients in the Hospital near the campus.

I am interested in a career as a Genetic Counselor, but I am not sure how to go about getting certified. Is it possible to just take the counseling courses and do the hospital rotations without completing the entire degree? If so, would I be able to omit the research portion of the degree since I recently competed a masters thesis?

Please email me back as soon as you can with more information.
I am very interested in the program, but i would like to become certified in the most cost and time effective way possible.

    Thank you for your time.
    Arielle Zouela
